EESL Achieves Milestone of Distribution of 5 Crore LED Bulbs

Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) completed distribution o f 5 crore LED bulbs under Domestic Efficient Lighting Programme (DELP) on Thursday morning. The DELP scheme helps to save 1,76,87,005 kWh energy per day which is worth Rs 6,95,14,059. It also helps in avoiding peak load of 1,583 MW. Replacing incandescent bulbs with LEDs reduces emission of 14,469 tonne of Carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL), a public sector entity under Ministry of Power, has taken up the project of distributing LED bulbs under its flagship initiative, the Domestic Efficient Lighting Programme (DELP). The Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi launched the DELP scheme on 5th January 2015. The scheme is presently running in nineteen states & union territories in India and is rapidly expanding across all other states. Electrification works in 4,066 villages completed so far out of 18,452 villages.

It has been decided to electrify all un-electrified villages by 01.05.2018. Electrification works in 4,066 villages out of 18,452 unelectrified villages in the nation have been completed so far. As on 01.04. 2015, there were 18,452 unelectrified villages in the country.' Electrification works in 4066 villages out of those mentioned above has been completed so far," Under Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gram Jyoti Yojana (DDUGJY), he said, there is a provision for providing electricity access to un-electrified villages/habitations through micro-grid and off-grid distribution network where grid connectivity is either not feasible or not cost effective. "So far, 1,849 villages have been sanctioned under off-grid distribution for electrification in 13 states," he said. In a separate reply he said, that in Uttar Pradesh, 1,529 villages were still to be electrified as on April 1, 2015. All these un-electrified villages have been sanctioned for electrification under DDUGJY.

Haryana's child sex ratio improves to 889 girls per 1,000 boys:-Beti Bachao Beti Padhao:

According to the 2014 census , the child sex ratio of Haryana was 846 girls per 1,000 boys. Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Thursday said that with efforts made by the state government and effective implementation of the 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao' (BBBP) programme, the child sex ratio in the state has improved to 889 girls per 1,000 boys. "Efforts are being made to further take it (child sex ratio) to above 900," he said, while flagging off the 'Sashakt Beti Sashakt Bharat' awareness march organised by the India Media Centre, Haryana. About 150 girl students from 18 districts of Haryana are participating in the awareness march being organised to generate knowledge among the people regarding women's empowerment. The awareness march would pass through 23 places in twelve districts before culminating at Raj Ghat in New Delhi, on January 14. Kochi metro gets first set of 'Made in India' coaches

Kochi Metro Rail (KMRL) received the first set of Made in India coaches five months ahead of schedule from Alstom Transport, the rolling stock manufactures for the project. With presence of over one hundred multi-national firms, Sri City SEZ, located 90 km from Chennai, stands as a true manifestation of the Government's Make in India campaign, Sri City, SEZ, Managing Director Ravindra Sannareddy said. "We take pride that Alstom Transport is supplying the very first set of Made in India coaches to Kochi Metro," he said.
