Work starts on UP’s first smart city project Navyug

  • Work commenced on Navyug housing and commercial project in Allahabad, billed as Uttar Pradesh's first smart city in the greenfield category.
  • The Rs 600 crore project situated on the Allahabad-Kanpur highway would be developed under the private sector and REPL has been roped as its knowledge partner.
  • REPL has been empaneled by the central government, along with some other agencies, as a specialist consultant for developing smart cities across the country.
  • CMD, New Modern Buildwell Pvt Ltd, PN Misra said "there are three categories of Smart Cities that the central government's policy envisages.
  • One is to develop existing cities into Smart Cities by completely transforming them. Second category is of using vacant spaces in existing cities to provide Smart City features to the residents and the third is developing new townships as Smart Cities. Our Allahabad project called Navyug, falls in the third category.
  • He said that possession of housing and office spaces would commence in two and half years time and would offer residents world class amenities, latest technology and complete freedom from municipal hassles.

Coal auction: Govt upbeat of earning more revenue than CAG's loss estimate of Rs 1.86L cr

The auction for coal blocks began aggressively with Anil Ambani's Reliance Cement bagging a block with a bid of Rs 1,402 per tonne, more than nine times the floor price of Rs 150, prompting the government to call it a grand success that would generate more revenue than the Comptroller and Auditor General of India's (CAG's) estimate of Rs 1.86 lakh crore lost by free distribution. GMR Energy won the Talabira -I coal block in Odisha with a very aggressive bid of Rs 478 per tonne. Adani Power, Essar Power, Sesa Sterlite, GMR Energy and OPG Power Generation were eyeing the Talabira-I block previously allotted to Hindalco. Power sector :- 30,000 MW of stalled power generation capacity revived

In the last 18 months  30,000 MW of stalled power generation capacity has been revived. Government working eases of electricity supplies in the coming 10 years. In the last 18 months, the government has revived stalled power generation capacity of over 30,000 MW, he said while replying to questions.  About 4,000 MW generation capacity have been added in the region in the last 18 months and additional 20,000 MW would be installed in the next three years, Goyal emphasised electrification of villages without considering state goverment.
